• The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) Governor, Shaktikanta Das recently launched three key digital payment initiatives at the Global Fintech Fest 2022. The initiatives include RuPay Credit Card on UPI, UPI LITE, Bharat BillPay Cross–Border Bill Payments. Through UPI Lite on BHIM App, users will be able to make small–value transactions in near–offline mode. The upper limit of a UPI Lite payment transaction will be ₹200.

• The UN General Assembly declared 23 September as the International Day of Sign Languages to raise awareness of importance of sign language in realization of the human rights of people who are deaf. It commemorates the day on which the World Federation of the Deaf was established in Rome in 1951. • US Senate recently ratified Kigali Amendment to the 1987 Montreal Protocol on ozone pollution, to limit use of refrigerants.
• The international agreement requires participating nations to phase down production and use of hydrofluorocarbons, also known as HFCs, by 85% over the next 14 years. More than 130 countries, including China, India and Russia, have formally ratified the agreement.

• The Ministry of Tourism had identified 15 tourist circuits under its Swadesh Darshan scheme including Ramayana Circuit, Buddhist Circuit, Coastal Circuit and Desert Circuit among others. Union Tourism and Culture Minister G Kishan Reddy announced a special tourist train to cover the ‘Ambedkar Circuit’.
• The train will visit key sites associated with Dr BR Ambedkar including Mhow (his birthplace called Dr. Ambedkar Nagar in Indore), London (where he resided and studied), Nagpur (also studied here), Delhi (where he passed away) and finally Mumbai (where he was cremated.)

Three other Indian cities, Chennai, Delhi and Hyderabad were in the next three ranks. Mumbai and Pune were at eighth and ninth position in a list of 14 cities from the APAC.
