• இந்தியாவுடனான தடையற்ற வர்த்தக ஒப்பந்தத்தை ஆஸ்திரேலிய நாடாளுமன்றம் நிறைவேற்றியுள்ளதாக பிரதமர் அந்தோனி அல்பானீஸ் அறிவித்துள்ளார். இந்தத் தடையற்ற வர்த்தக ஒப்பந்தம் நடைமுறைப்படுத்தப்பட்டவுடன், ஜவுளித்துறை, தோல், அறைகலன்கள், நகைகள் மற்றும் இயந்திரங்கள் உட்பட இந்தியாவின் 6,000 துறைகளுக்கு ஆஸ்திரேலிய சந்தையில் வரியில்லா அணுகலை வழங்கும். முதல் நாளன்று சுமார் 96.4 சதவீத ஏற்றுமதிகளுக்கு வரியேதும் விதிக்காமல் ஆஸ்திரேலிய இந்த ஒப்பந்தத்தைச் செயல்படுத்தியது.

• சத்தீஸ்கர் மாநிலத்தின் இராய்ப்பூரில், ‘தேசிய பழங்குடியினர் நடன விழா’ அண்மையில் நடத்தப்பட்டது. இந்தத் திருவிழாவில் சுமார் 1 இலட்சம் பேர் கலந்துகொண்டனர். இந்தியா முழுவதிலுமிருந்தும் மொசாம்பிக், மங்கோலியா, டோங்கா, ரஷ்யா, இந்தோனேசியா, மாலத்தீவுகள், செர்பியா, நியூசிலாந்து மற்றும் எகிப்துபோன்ற நாடுகளிலிருந்தும் சுமார் 1,500 நடனக்கலைஞர்கள் இவ்விழாவில் பங்கேற்றனர்.

• நிர்வாகச் சீர்திருத்தங்கள் மற்றும் பொதுமக்கள் குறைதீர்ப்புத்துறை வெளியிட்ட, ‘குறைதீர்ப்பு குறியீட்டில்’ இந்திய தனித்துவ அடையாள ஆணையமைப்பு (UIDAI) முதலிடம் பிடித்துள்ளது. UIDAI ஆனது இத்தரவரிசையில் தொடர்ந்து மூன்றாம் மாதமாக முதலிடத்தைப் பிடித்துள்ளது. UIDAI ஆனது ‘ஆதார் மித்ரா’ என்ற புதிய செயற்கை நுண்ணறிவு / எந்திரக்கற்றல் அடிப்படையிலான இயலியையும் அறிமுகப்படுத்தியது. இப்புதிய இயலி, ஆதார் பதிவு நிலையைச் சரிபார்த்தல், பதிவு மையத்தின் இருப்பிடம் அறிதல்போன்ற மேம்படுத்தப்பட்ட அம்சங்களுடன் வருகிறது.

• Australian Parliament has passed the country’s Free trade Agreement (FTA) with India, announced Prime Minister Anthony Albanese. Once implemented, the trade agreement will provide duty–free access to the Australian market for over 6,000 sectors of India, including textiles, leather, furniture, jewellery and machinery. Australia offers zero–duty access to India for about 96.4% of exports from day one.

• Arittapatti village in Madurai district has been notified as the first Biodiversity Heritage Site in Tamil Nadu. It has a rich biological and historical significance with the presence of around 250 bird species including 3 Raptor species – Laggar Falcon, Shaheen Falcon, Bonelli’s Eagle. It also has wild–life like Pangolin, Python, and Slender Loris. The notification comes under the Biological Diversity Act, 2002.

• The Supreme Court noted the absence of a law governing the appointments of election commissioners and chief election commissioners a disturbing trend. The court flagged Article 324 of the Constitution, which talks about the appointment of election commissioners, and said it does not provide the procedure for such appointments. Since 2004, no chief election commissioner has completed the six–year tenure.

• The Organisation for Economic Co–operation and Development (OECD) cut its gross domestic growth forecast for India for FY23 to 6.6 per cent from 6.9 per cent. The reasons are higher medium–term global uncertainty and slowing domestic economic activity. India is set to be the second–fastest growing economy in the G–20 in FY23, despite decelerating global demand and the tightening of monetary policy.

• The Economic Advisory Council to the Prime Minister, EAC–PM has issued a working paper titled ‘Why India does poorly on global perception indices: Case study of three opinion–based indices’. It says that the decline in India’s rankings on a number of global indices is due to the problems with the methodology used in these opinion–based indices. The Paper has analysed – Freedom in the World Index, V–DEM indices, and EIU Democracy Index.

• A new global study has found that over 63,000 people died across the world due to snakebites in 2019, and out of this the number of deaths was the highest in India at more than 51,000. In the study authored by the ‘Global Burden of Disease (GBD),’ snakebite envenoming is the deadliest neglected tropical disease (NTD).

• The ‘National Tribal Dance Festival’ has been recently hosted by Chhattisgarh’s Raipur. The festival is attended by nearly 1 lakh people. As many as 1,500 dancers from across India and countries like Mozambique, Mongolia, Tonga, Russia, Indonesia, Maldives, Serbia, New Zealand and Egypt participated in the festival.

The 2022 edition of the report looks at how automation in our agrifood systems can contribute to achieving the Sustainable Development Goals. • ‘Pushkar Mela’ is one of the greatest tourist attractions of the state of Rajasthan. It includes cultural performances, nature walks, a sand art festival, kite festival, annual five–day camel and livestock fair held in the town of Pushkar between the months of October and November. Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot inaugurated the ‘Pushkar Mela’ fair in Jaipur. This year, the eight–day event will not include the famous cattle fair, owing to the spread of lumpy skin disease.

• The Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) has topped the ‘Grievance Redressal Index’ published by Department of Administrative Reforms and Public Grievances (DARPG). This is the third month in a row when UIDAI has topped the rankings. The UIDAI also launched a new AI/ML based chatbot named ‘Aadhaar Mitra’. The new Chatbot comes with enhanced features like – checking Aadhaar enrollment status, information on enrollment centre location among others.
