இது தொடர்பாக பல்கலைக்கழகம் கூறியிருப்பதாவது:

தமிழ்நாடு வேளாண்மைப் பல்கலைக்கழகத்தில் இந்திய அரசின் ஒருங்கிணைந்த தோட்டக்கலைப் பயிர்களின் மேம்பாட்டுத் திட்டத்தின் கீழ் வாசனைப் பயிர்களின் விதை, நடவுப்பொருள் உற்பத்தி, வாசனைப் பயிர்களின் தொழில்நுட்பத்தை பிரபலப்படுத்துதல் என்ற திட்டமானது வாசனை, மலைத்தோட்டப்பயிர்கள் துறை, பெரியகுளம் தோட்டக்கலை ஆராய்ச்சி நிலையத்தை தலைமையிடமாகக்கொண்டு செயல்படுத்தப்பட்டு வருகிறது.

இந்தத் திட்டத்துக்காக கோழிக்கோட்டில் உள்ள பாக்கு, வாசனைப் பயிா்கள் மேம்பாட்டு இயக்ககம் 2019-20ஆம் ஆண்டுக்கு `78.51 லட்சமும், 2020-21ஆம் ஆண்டுக்கு `88.87 லட்சமும் நிதி ஒதுக்கியுள்ள -து. இத்திட்டத்தில் தமிழ்நாடு வேளாண்மைப் பல்கலைக்கழகத்தின் கீழ் உள்ள பெரியகுளம், கோயம்புத்தூர், பவானிசாகர், உதகை, ஏற்காடு, திருச்சி, கிள்ளிகுளம், கொடைக்கானல் உள்ளிட்ட 16 துணை மையங்களில் நறுமணப்பயிர்களில் வளர்ச்சி நடவடிக்கைகள் மேற்கொள்ளப்பட்டு வருகின்றன. இங்கு இஞ்சி, பூண்டு, மிளகாய், கொத்தமல்லி, ஜாதிக்காய், கிராம்பு, இலவங்கப் பட்டை, சா்வசுகந்தி, புளி, கறிவேப்பிலை, நறுமணப் பயிர்களின் விதை, தரமான நாற்றுகள் உற்பத்தி செய்யப்படுகின்றன. வயல்வெளி முன்னோடி திட்டத்தின்கீழ் நறுமணப் பயிர்களான மஞ்சள், மிளகு, கொத்தமல்லி, மிளகாய் ஆகியவற்றில் அங்கக வேளாண் சாகுபடி திடல்கள் அமைக்கப்பட்டுள்ளன.
