AFCAT, Air Force Common Admission Test is a test conducted by the Indian Air Force for the process of selection of officers for the IAF there is an exception for medical and dental. Usually this exam is conducted twice in a year generally in the month of February and August. And the advertisement for this exam will be announced in the month of December and June. IAF AFCAT online application will be invited from male and female from Indian citizens as per the Citizenship Act 1955 for branches such as Flying Branch (Short Service Commission only), Technical Branch (Permanent Commission and Short Service Commission) and Ground Duty Branch (Permanent Commission and Short Service Commission). It came into existence in the year 2011. For the year 2016 they have passed the second notification for the exam that is to be conducted in the month of August. Candidate’s age should be between 20 years to 24 years for applying for Flying Branch for Technical Branch the age limit is 20 years to 26 years and the same for Ground Duty Branch. Some age relaxation is given to candidates based on their category as per the norms of Government of India.
candidates who wish to apply must possess graduation in any discipline or B.E/ B.tch with 60% marks for Flying Branch, four year degree qualification or should have cleared Sections A and B examination of Associate Membership of Institution of Engineers (India) or Aeronautical Society of India with 60% marks for Technical Branch and Graduation with 60% marks/ P.G degree/ Diploma in any discipline/ C.A/ICWA with 50% marks for Ground Duty Branches. Candidate will be selected based on their performance in AFCAT and Engineering Knowledge Test (EKT) for candidates who wish to apply for technical branch followed by Intelligence test, Psychological Test, Group Test, Medical Test and Interview conducted by Air Force Selection Boards (AFSBs). And for those candidates who appear for Flying branch will be selected on the basis of Pilot Aptitude Battery Test (PABT). SYLLABUS FOR AFCAT 2016
The written test will be conducted on General Awareness( history, sports, geography, environment, civics, basic science, defense, art, culture, current affairs and politics), Verbal Ability in English (comprehensions, error detection, sentence completion, synonyms, antonyms and testing of vocabulary), Numerical Ability (decimal fraction, simplification, average, profit and loss, percentage, ratio and proportion and simple interest) Reasoning and Military Aptitude Test( verbal skills and spatial ability).
PROCEDURE FOR APPLYING FOR AFCAT 2016
Eligible candidate may apply online for the AFCAT 2016 by following simple instructions. First they have to visit the official website www.careerairforce.nic.in. In the homepage they will find a link as “Candidate Login”. In that they have to select “New Candidate” and click link to start the Online Application process. Fill all the details required in the application form and then upload scanned photography and signature. Then, click on Submit button and take a printout copy of the application and keep it safe for future verification and candidates must keep their User Name and Password carefully.
