Common Law Admission Test (CLAT) is the one of the centralized test which is been conducted for the purpose for admission to 17 prominent National Law Universities in India. The test is taken after the Higher Secondary Examination or the 12th grade for the purpose of admission to integrated under graduation programmes in Law and after Graduation in Law for Master of Laws(LL.M) programmes conducted by these law universities. This test was conducted for the first time on 11 May 2008.

This test is about two-hour admission test consists of objective type covering questions on Elementary Mathematics or Numerical Ability, English with Comprehension, General knowledge and Current affairsLegal Aptitude and Legal Awareness and Logical reasoning. The CLAT scores are used by other private law colleges across the country and Public Sector Undertakings for admissions and recruitment respectively. Now the CLAT 2017 notification has been released opening the registration process for the test which is about to be conducted across India.

Eligibility Criteria for CLAT Application Form 2017 Registration CLAT Notification

PG Programme:

The applicant should have a minimum percentage of marks of 55% in qualifying examination of LLB or Integrated LLB or other equivalent examination from a Government recognized University or Institution as per the CLAT 2017 Notification.

UG Programme:

Aspirants should have a minimum percentage of marks of 45% in 12th Class or Higher Secondary Examination from a Government recognized University or Institution.

Age Limit:

Aspirant should have an age limit of 20 years of age in case of general and there is age exemption for other categories based on the norms of the government.

CLAT Exam Pattern 2017

This CLAT Exam will be conducted for 2 hours and around 200 objective type questions will be asked. The following are the five sections on which the question paper will be made.

  • English including Comprehension
  • General Knowledge and current Affairs
  • Elementary Mathematics (Numerical Ability)
  • Legal Aptitude
  • Logical Reasoning

There is negative mark for wrong answer. For every wrong answer 0.25 marks will be reduced.

  • Fill the application correctly.
