Gujarat Police Profile
The Gujarat Police Department is the law enforcement agency for the State of Gujarat in India. The headquarters is located at Gandhinagar. The Department came into existence after Gujarat’s separation from the greater Mumbai state on 1st May 1960. The police department of Gujarat is headed by Director General of Police (DGP). There are four commissioner officers at Ahmedabad, Vadodara, Rajkot and Surat. Likewise seven ranges in Gujarat Police office at Ahmedabad, Vadodara, Rajkot, Surat, and Junagadh and boarder range. For police administration the state is further divided into 26 police districts and Western Railway Police. The Gujarat Police has some branches for special tasks like crime, anti-terrorist squad (ATS) and the intelligence wing. The Gujarat police were the first to disclose the serial bomb-blast mystery in 2007- 2008.
Total vacancies
The total vacancies are 17532. There are various constable posts for both male and female such as follows, Unarmed Constable Lokrakshak (Male): 7571 posts, Unarmed Constable, Lokrakshak (Female): 3929 posts, Armed Constable Lokrakshak (Male): 1139 posts, Armed Constable Lokrakshak (Female): 561 posts, R.P Constable (Male): 3780 posts, Jail Sipahi (Male): 700 posts and Jail Sipahi (Female): 52 posts.
Eligibility
The Minimum qualification will be 12th Std and maximum will be degree qualification from recognised board or university. The age limit will be 18to 33 years with age relaxation as per norms of Gujarat government. The Physical fitness should be height: 165 cms, Chest : 79 cms& Max. 84 and Weight : 50 Kg for Male Candidates and Height : 155 cms & Weight : 40 Kg for female candidates.
Selection Process
The selection process consists of written exam, Physical Efficiency test, Medical Test and Personal Interview. The written exam consists of 100 marks which is OMR based exam. It is purely Objective type questions. The minimum qualifying mark is 40%. The candidates must focus themselves at their preparation with the help of below provided syllabus. It consists of General Knowledge, Current affairs, Indian constitution, Criminal Procedure code 1973, Indian Penal code 1860, and Evidence act 1872. Also concentrate on general studies. There will be additional marks for NCC certificate as 2 Marks as qualification weigh tage.
The Physical efficiency test for male candidates need to qualify from running race of 5000m in 25Mins, for female candidates they should qualify by running race of 1600m in 9min 30sec and 2400m in 12min 30sec for Ex.serviceman. Once qualified in all levels, you will be paid with good package from government of Gujarat. That pay scale and allowances will be decided by the board of Police recruitment.
Exam Pattern
The exam Pattern of constable as follows,
Gujarati Language – Gujarati Grammar, Idioms, Phrase, Vocabulary and Comprehension
English Language – Grammar, Idioms, Verbal aptitude, Vocabulary and Idioms.
General Laws – Constitution of India, Indian penal code, Gujarat Police Act and Evidence Act.
General Knowledge – Current Affairs, Psychological Matter, General Knowledge, History of India, Sports and Culture.

Application Fee
The online application activated from 1st July 2016 onwards. The application fee is not much high as other recruitment board. It’s just Rs.100 + extra charges for General candidates and fee is exempted for unreserved candidates such as SC, ST & Ex.Serviceman. This application fee will be paid either through Online or Offline mode. For making online payment, you can use gateway via Debit card, Credit card or Net banking. The Offline mode payment is possible through bank challan deposit or Post office. This amount will be non refundable. It is better to apply before the last min to avoid rush. The Link will be deactivated on 30th July 2016.
Admit card
The admit card will be expected before 10 to 15 days of commencement of exam. That will consist of exam venue, date of exam and timing etc to appear for the written exam. You will be asked to carry some Id proof which is provided by government without fail on the day of exam.
