KTET at a glance
TET is Teachers Eligibility Test. Any teachers who wish to get into teaching field is expected to pass this examination for better income and better job. It is a mandatory examination which is supposed to be written by the candidate itself. KTET is Kerala Teachers Eligibility Test. This test is been conducted by the government of Kerala for the aspirants belonging to the state of Kerala in India. This exam is been conducted on various categories for various classes. The detailed information on this examination is been discussed below.
KTET Eligibility Criteria
The KTET examination will be conducted under four categories for the aspirants based on the class they wish to handle. The eligibility criteria for various categories are given below.
Category I : this category is for those aspirants who will be appearing for KTET Exam for Lower Primary classes
Educational Qualification needed for this category
- Aspirants must have passed their higher secondary or senior secondary or any of its equivalent standards with a minimum of 45%.
- The aspirants must have at least two years of Trained Teacher`s Certificate (TTC) which is been conducted by the Board of Examination of Government of Kerala.
- Or Aspirant must have a Diploma course in elementary /education under the norms and procedure of NCTE.
- Or aspirant is expected to have completed a four year course of B.El.Ed that is Bachelor of elementary education.
- Or the aspirant must have got two year diploma in Special Education courses.
Category 2: this category is applicable for those aspirants who will be appearing for KTET Exam for upper primary classes.
Educational Qualification needed for this category
- Aspirant is expected to have completed a degree in B.A or B.Sc or B.Com and they must have got a two year Diploma in Elementary Education.
- The aspirants must have at least two years of Trained Teacher`s Certificate (TTC) which is been conducted by the Board of Examination of Government of Kerala.
- Or Aspirant must have a Diploma course in elementary /education under the norms and procedure of NCTE.
- Or aspirant is expected to have completed a four year course of B.El.Ed that is Bachelor of elementary education.
Category 3: this category is for those aspirants who will be appearing for KTET Exam for High School Classes.
Educational Qualification needed for this category
- Aspirants must have completed BA/B.SC or B.Com with a minimum of 45%.
- The aspirants must have at least two years of Trained Teacher`s Certificate (TTC) which is been conducted by the Board of Examination of Government of Kerala.
- Or Aspirant must have a Diploma course in elementary /education under the norms and procedure of NCTE.
- Or aspirant is expected to have completed a four year course of B.El.Ed that is Bachelor of elementary education.
- Or the aspirant must have got two year diploma in Special Education courses
Category 4: this category is for those aspirants who will be appearing for KTET Exam for language teachers.
Application procedures for KTET Exam
Aspirants if have more interest and feel that they are eligible they can use the following process for obtaining their application form. Aspirants are expected to remit application fees for this examination as mentioned below.
- Examination fees for Paper I is Rs. 500/-
- Examination fees for Paper II is Rs. 500/-
- Examination fees for Paper III is Rs.500/-
- Examination fees for SC/ST/PWD is Rs.250/-.
Steps for filing application form
The following are the steps to be followed for filling up the application form for the KTET Exam 2016-2017.
- First the aspirants have to log on to the official website by entering the web address www.ktet.in.
- The homepage of the authority will appear on screen.
- In that read the instruction on KTET examination.
- Then click on Registration link.
- A new page will appear on screen.
- Fill the application form.
- Attach the documents mentioned.
- Upload the photograph and signature.
- Recheck your application for mistakes.
- Remit the application fees.
- Finally click on Submit button.
- Your application will be sent to the authority.
- Take a print of it for future reference.
Admit Card KTET
As admit card is one of the important document that is to be carried by the candidates on the day of exam. This admit card will have the following details.
- Registration number.
- Name of the examination
- Name if the candidate
- Date of exam
- Venue of exam
- Guidelines and instructions of exam
- Photo and sign of the candidate.
Steps to download admit card for KTET 2016

- Then click on Admit Card link.
- A new page will appear on screen.
- Fill the details asked such as Registration number, Date of birth

KTET Exam Selection Process
- Aspirants will be selected based on their performance in the written examination.
- Those aspirants who scores more than 60% will be considered go be “KTET Qualified”.
