RBI Internship Program for Graduates 2016 Application Download
Good news for students wishing to pursue PhD in economics, banking, finance or related fields. RBI is offering Research Internship Scheme to provide opportunities for the graduates. Candidates should be keenly interested in the Reserve Bank’s core areas of research and also be able to derive benefit from RBI in these areas. RBI Internship Scheme
Reserve Bank of India offers the internship program for the graduates who wish to pursue PhD in economics, banking, finance or related fields, or to move to positions in government research institutions or financial institutions and can exhibit their a quantitative and analytic inclination towards banking.
The Reserve Bank of India is the central banking of India established in 1st April 1935 and has its headquarters at Mumbai. RBI helps in development of Strategy of the Constitution of India and also helps in the financial inclusion policy.
Role of Intern
RBI provides many opportunities to the candidates to create environment for learning and participating in the research. Intern would assist and collaborate with the reserve bank of India projects and provide related inputs and paper publishing in quality economics and financial journals.
Their work should be timely data and help in the relevant analytical statistical and economic tools necessary to execute the research projects.
Eligibility Criteria
- Interested graduates should complete the requirement any one of the follows to participate in this internship selection.
- Three year undergraduate Degree plus one extra year of post-graduate studies or
- Four year integrated courses such as B.Tech or B.E.
- Preferences will be provided to the candidates who completed Economics, Finance, Statistical Sciences, Computer Science, Data Analytics and other Engineering courses.
- Citizens of any nation are eligible and work experience is not needed.
- Programming skills and ability to acquire them is necessary.
Method of Selection
The Reserve Bank would select a maximum of 10 interns every year.
Placements would be in departments such as Department of Economic and Policy Research (DEPR) / Department of Statistics and Information Management (DSIM) / Strategic Research Unit (SRU).
Candidates will be shortlisted based on the CV send to the each department separately. Then the shortlisted candidates will get call from the RBI for Personal Interview. Final Selection is based on this Interview section.
When to Apply
There is no last date to apply for this internship program. As the Total duration of the Internship program is of 6 months .Selections will be done twice a year depending on the Reserve Bank’s requirements in a manner that the internship commences from January 1 or July 1.
Application window will remain open during first five months of the corresponding half-year.

No right for Appointment
Candidates who get selected for the internship program has no rights to claim for the appointment in Reserve Bank of India by virtue of the Internship. The Reserve Bank reserves the right to terminate the internship with a notice period of one month without giving any reason.
Facilities on Internship
- Internship will be provided in Mumbai.
- The Reserve Bank would provide office space, internet connectivity and other support facilities to the interns.
- The Reserve Bank would pay a stipend of Rs. 35,000 per month.
- RBI will not provide the accommodation facility.
- Internship period of 6 months may extend according to the performance of the candidates.
