Dear aspirants, we like to give you complete analysis of SBI PO Preliminary 2016 for your reference. As you all know, the SBI Probationary Officer Preliminary exam was scheduled on 2nd, 3rd, 9th and 10th July 2016 in 4 different slots such as two morning session and two evening session. This exam will be held online. The total marks is 100, whereas it covers three sections such as English for 30marks, Quantitative aptitude for 35marks and Reasoning ability for 35marks. The time duration is 60mins ( 1 Hour). To your notice, there will not be any fixed timing for any section. The results for prelims will be released on 18th July 2016.
SBI PO Mains Pattern
The candidates who selected from Prelims will be called for Main exam. The selection will be based on cutoff marks which is fixed by the authority that is depends on total number of vacancies, Performance of candidates and level of difficulty, Etc. The Main exam will be both Objective and descriptive questions. The Objective test will be held for 3 hours.
The sections such as Reasoning and computer aptitude for 60marks ( 60mins), data analysis and Interpretation for 60marks(45 mins), General and Banking awareness for 40marks(35 mins) and English language for 40 Marks( 40 mins). The descriptive test for 50marks in 30mins. Main exam will be followed by Group discussion. The admit card for main exam will be 21st July 2016. The date for main exam will be 31st July 2016.
Complete Analysis
Here we provided with analysis of 3rd July 2016 of 4th Slot. According to the syllabus of SBI PO exams 2016, some portion of syllabus asked in first slot will not be asked in next slot. For example, 5 questions from puzzles were asked in first slot. But those questions are not asked in subsequent slot. The analysis is completely based on candidate’s feedback. The overall performance difficulty level was Moderate.
English Section
This section is very easy when compared with other two. But to be truth, English and reasoning will be easy to finish up in short time. The section is likely to be previous year question paper. It consists of reading comprehension (10 qns) whereas the topic related to Women Empowerment, Cloze test ( 5 qns) usuage of technology was asked, Para jumbled related to insurance was difficult (5 qns), Spotting Errors ( 5 qns) and Fill in the blanks ( Double filler) – 5 qns was easy. Thus overall attempts is said to be 16 to 20 qns with moderate level of difficulty.
Quantitative Aptitude
The aptitude was always difficult for those who are weak in maths. Anyway, it is difficult section only when compared to other section. You need more practice to solve all questions in time. Here timing plays vital role. This section consists of Number series (5qns) was said to be Okay level, Data Interpretation has 2 sets ( 5 qns in each) – Bar graph was easy and Table graph was moderate, Quadratic equation is easy ( 5qns), Approximation also easy (5qns) and arithmetic is tough ( 10 qns). Overall analysis of this section is Moderate with 18 to 21 good attempts.
Asked question: solve it
- A Vassal contain some litters of pure milk. If 25 litter of water added to the vessel, ratio becomes milk to water 12:5, 17 litters of mixture is drawn from the vessel & 10 litters of water is added. Find the new ratio between milk & water.
- Ratio between height of 2 cylinder in the ratio 3:5. Their volumes are in the ratio 27:80. Find ratio between their radius.
- Sum of money is invested in Scheme A, 15% per annum, After 2 years amount is received, that amount invested in scheme B at 20% per annum for compound interest. If the interest received at the end of 2 years is 1430. Find the sum. (Answer: 5000)

Reasoning ability
In this slot, coding and decoding not asked. This section is also easy to answer but need good accuracy in answering. This section consists of Puzzle (20qns) of line,color,subjects, months and other parameter. This is also mix of both easy & moderate level. Seating arrangement( 5 qns) based on persons sitting top to bottom is also easy, Inequalities (5 qns) – easy, Problem based on direction( 2 qns) and Blood relation ( 3qns) was easy. The overall good attempt is 15 to 21.
Asked Question: Solve it
Eight persons – H, I, J, K, L, M, N and O – are standing in a straight line at equidistant. Some of them are facing north while others are facing south. M is standing third to the right to H. M is standing at one of the extreme ends. L is standing third to the left of H. The immediate neighbours of J face north. N is not an immediate neighbour of H. The persons standing at the extreme ends face the same direction (both are facing either North or South).
The immediate neighbours of H face just opposite direction as that of M. The immediate neighbours of O face opposite direction with respect to each other. One of the immediate neighbour of L is K who is facing north. I is standing between J and M. Not more than four persons are facing north
Expected Cutoff
The section wise cutoff for English is out of 30marks, GEN- 7 to 10, OBC -4 to 7, SC -4 to 7, & ST- 4 to 7, for Aptitude is out of 35 marks, GEN- 7 to 10, OBC -4 to 7, SC- 4 to 7 & ST- 4 to 7 and for Reasoning ability is out of 35marks, GEN- 10 to 12, OBC -6 to 8, SC – 6 to 8, & ST- 6 to 8. The Over all cut off marks in category wise as follows,
GEN : 48 to52 Marks
OBC: 42 to 45 Marks
SC: 38 to 40 Marks
ST: 20 to 25 Marks
