The Southern Naval Command is one of the three main formations of the Indian Navy. It has its Headquarters in Kochi, Kerala at INS Venduruthy, and is commanded by the Flag Officer Commanding-in-Chief. The Present FOC-inC is Vice Admiral Girish Luthra.
The Southern Naval Command consists of Flag Officer Sea Training (FOST), a training squadron, training establishments and bases, and land forces and survey ships. It has a naval air station, and a ship repair yard.
The Southern Naval Command is the Training Command of Indian Navy and is responsible for the training of all its personnel, both officers as well as sailors, from basic to advance stages. It has subsidiary units from Jamnagar in Gujarat to Lonavala in Maharashtra, Goa and in Orissa but the majority of training units are in Kochi.
Eligibility Criteria
The Eligibility Criteria includes Matriculation Pass or equivalent from a recognized Board or Institution for Multi Tasking Staff (Ministerial) and Matriculation Pass and Proficiency in relevant trade for Multi Tasking Staff (Non- Industrial). Coming next to age criteria, 18 – 27 years for Multi Tasking Staff (Ministerial) & 18 – 25 years for Multi Tasking Staff (Non Industrial) posts. The age relaxation for SC / ST – 05 years; OBC – 03 years; PWDs – UR -10 Years, OBC -13(10+03) Years, SC/ST-15(10+05) Years; Govt. Servant / Departmental Candidates – With 03 years continuous service in Central Government. UR – upto 40 years (45 years for SC/ST)

Selection Process
The Selection Process will be conducted based on written exam, Document verification and Medical Examination. The Tentative date for examination will be 25th September 2016 or 1st October 2016. The Written exam will be Objective type – Multiple choice questions and also will be of bilingual in both English and Hindi except GE. It is Matriculation level standard. The question paper consists of General Intelligence and Reasoning, Numerical Aptitude, General English, General Awareness and Trade field awareness. Each section carries 20 Marks. The Total marks is 100 Marks. The Consolidated Pay scale will be Rs. 5,200/- to Rs. 20,200/- with grade pay of Rs. 1,800/-.
