As Indian government has taken initiative to provide education of IIT to a common man through Online for all subjects in free of cost . SWAYAM MOOC – Free Open Online Government Educational Website Launching Soon. This will be expected officially to be in use from September 2016
What is SWAYAM
SWAYAM is a Study Webs of Active-learning for Young Aspiring Minds which also have a internal meaning of Learn by yourself. As we all know the sayings “Education has No Barrier”. Now it becomes true as every subjects from 10th Standard to all PG courses are about to provide in free Online educational Website. Now every Indian who wish to learn can learn without any barriers. SWAYAM MOOC is the massive open online courses of Indian government is a system aimed at unlimited participation and open access to all. It does not always quantify as formal education but provides a platform to study quality courses from institutions offering them.
Process with SWAYAM
This Online courses is of free of cost for any one in any educational background. If the candidates who wish to get a recognition for the course completion through SWAYAM then he have to pay a Nominal fee for the Certificate. Globally these type of education is said as Future of higher education and it will improve the Indian skills to upgrade themselves in all the perspectives.
Mission of SWAYAM
As India has officially jumped to this MOOC, HRD department of India have told in its first 100 days in office with the aim to reach out to 10 million students. Till now the official website is not yet released and government officials have planned to name it as SWAYAM Bharat. As Swayam Bharat will be the milestone for the affordability and quality of education to all Indians . It is said as a Welcome step of India in new vision to battle against the shortage of infrastructure and qualified teachers for higher education.
Steps taken So far with SWAYAM
As PM Modi describes the SWAYAM should be in all the Indian languages ,so that every indian can learn in their own language. As the process of translation has already begun to ensure the effective translation by IIT and Princeton University in Hindi and other languages.
Second important step took by the government is to improve the WIFI system of the Central funded Institution .As far as 145 institution are ready with this facility to welcome SWAYAM and for all other institution are asked to rope in services with ERNET (education and research Network) to get WIFI system . As government planned to spend 40 lakhs per institute to do the wifi system with ERNET.
How to register with SWAYAM
As many IIT /IIM professors are going to teach the online courses, the official website is not released. The registration procedures and other details is not announced officially. More than 2000 courses are about to launch and they are planned to launch the server to handle 10 lakhs people at a time and it was planned to provide for three crore people. As the official release was expected in September. Some unofficial statement tells that they have planned to release on the birth Anniversary of Deen Dayal Upadhayay on 25th September 2016. Courses in MOOC
At the start of SWAYAM they are planned to launch three subjects in which Two IIT and One of Princeton University is working on this process. As the first view of this swayam has planned to offer three courses.
Introduction to Computer Programming by IIT Bombay as this is a two part course which providers students with a foundation in Computer Programming
Thermodynamics is also via IIT Bombay to provide the basic course in thermodynamics, designed for students of mechanical engineering. Students will learn the terms and concepts used in thermodynamics, with precise definitions
Quantum Mechanics and Quantum Computation via UC Berkeley to provide basic conceptual introduction to quantum mechanics and quantum computation. They have planned to release in various online platform such as Coursera,Udacity,edx etc
