UPSC CDS II Recruitment 2023 349 Vacancies: The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) has announced the UPSC CDS II Recruitment 2023, inviting online applications for 349 vacancies in the Combined Defence Services Examination (II), 2023. Eligibility: To be eligible for UPSC CDS II Recruitment 2023, candidates must fulfill certain criteria related to nationality, age, and educational qualifications. The eligibility criteria are as follows.

Nationality: Candidates must be either:
a) A citizen of India, or
b) A subject of Bhutan or Nepal, or
c) A Tibetan refugee who came to India before January 1, 1962, with the intention of permanently settling in India, or
d) A person of Indian origin who has migrated from Pakistan, Burma, Sri Lanka, East African countries of Kenya, Uganda, the United Republic of Tanzania, Zambia, Malawi, Zaire, Ethiopia, or Vietnam, with the intention of permanently settling in India.

Age Limit:
a) For Indian Military Academy (IMA): Unmarried male candidates born not earlier than 2nd July 2000 and not later than 1st July 2005 are eligible.
b) For Indian Naval Academy (INA): Unmarried male candidates born not earlier than 2nd July 2000 and not later than 1st July 2005 are eligible.
c) For Air Force Academy (AFA): Candidates aged between 20 and 24 years as of 1st July 2023 (born not earlier than 2nd July 2000 and not later than 1st July 2004) are eligible.
d) For Officers’ Training Academy (OTA): Unmarried male candidates born not earlier than 2nd July 1999 and not later than 1st July 2005 are eligible.
e) For Officers’ Training Academy (OTA – Women, Non-Technical): Unmarried women, issueless widows, and issueless divorcees who have not remarried are eligible. They should have been born not earlier than 2nd July 1999 and not later than 1st July 2005.

Educational Qualifications :

  • For I.M.A. and Officers’ Training Academy, Chennai – Degree of a recognised University or equivalent.
  • For Indian Naval Academy – Degree in Engineering from a recognised University/Institution
  • For Air Force Academy – Degree of a recognised University (with Physics and Mathematics at 10+2 level) or Bachelor of Engineering.
  • Graduates with first choice as Army/Navy/Air Force are to submit proof of Graduation/provisional certificates on the date of commencement of the SSB Interview at the SSB.

Salary: Stipend to Gentlemen or Women Cadets during the entire duration of training in Service academies i.e. during training period at IMA and OTA – Rs 56,100/-p.m.* (Starting pay in Level 10). On successful commissioning, the pay in the Pay matrix of the Officer commissioned shall be fixed in first Cell of Level 10 and the period of training shall not be treated as commissioned service and arrears on account of admissible allowances, as applicable, for the training period shall be paid to cadets.

Selection Process: The selection process for UPSC CDS II Recruitment 2023 consists of two stages: a written examination and an interview conducted by the Services Selection Board (SSB).

Written Exam (Paper I & Paper II)

Psychological Aptitude Test and Intelligence Test

The written examination includes multiple-choice questions and is conducted offline. It tests the candidates’ knowledge in English, General Knowledge, and Elementary Mathematics. Candidates who qualify in the written examination are called for the SSB interview, which includes intelligence and personality tests, group testing, and an individual interview. Final selection is based on the candidate’s performance in the written examination and the SSB interview.

Application Fee: Candidates (excepting Female/SC/ST candidates who are exempted from payment of fee) are required to pay a fee of Rs. 200/- (Rupees Two Hundred Only) either by remitting the money in any Branch of SBI by cash, or by using Visa/Master/Rupay Credit/Debit Card/UPI Payment or by using internet banking facility of any Bank.

Applicants who opt for “Pay by Cash” mode should print the system generated Pay in-slip during Part-II registration and deposit the fee at the counter of SBI Branch on the next working day only. “Pay by Cash” mode option will be deactivated at 11:59 PM of 05.06.2023 i.e. one day before the closing date. However, applicants who have generated their Pay-in slip before it is de-activated may pay at the counter of SBI Branch during banking hours on the closing date. Such applicants who are unable to pay by cash on the closing date i.e. during banking hours at SBI Branch, for reason whatsoever, even if holding a valid Pay-in-Slip will have no other offline option but to opt for online Debit/Credit Card/UPI Payment or internet Banking Payment mode on the closing date i.e. till 6:00 PM of 06.06.2023.
