• ஐநாஇன் காலநிலை உச்சிமாநாடான COP–27இல் ஏறக்குறைய இருநூறு நாடுகள் பருவநிலை தாக்கங்களால் பாதிக்கப்பட்ட ஏழை நாடுகளை ஆதரிப்பதற்காக, “இழப்பு மற்றும் சேத நிதியத்தை” அமைப்பதற்கு ஒப்புக்கொண்டன. “இழப்பு மற்றும் சேதம்” என்பது காலநிலை இயக்கத்தால் ஏற்படும் வானிலை தீவிரங்கள் அல்லது கடல்மட்ட உயர்வு போன்ற தாக்கங்களால் ஏற்படும் செலவினங்களைக் குறிக்கிறது. ஏழை நாடுகளால் தவிர்க்க முடியாத அல்லது மாற்றியமைக்க முடியாத சேதத்தின் செலவை இந்த நிதியம் ஈடுசெய்கிறது.

• தாய்லாந்தின் பாங்காக்கில் நடைபெற்ற ITTF–ATTU ஆசிய கோப்பை டேபிள் டென்னிஸ் போட்டியில் பதக்கம் வென்ற முதல் இந்திய டேபிள் டென்னிஸ் வீராங்கனையாக மனிகா பத்ரா ஆனார். உலகின் 6ஆம்நிலை டேபிள் டென்னிஸ் வீராங்கனையான ஜப்பானின் ஹினா ஹயாடாவை தோற்கடித்து அவர் வெண்கலப்பதக்கம் வென்றுள்ளார். கடந்த 1997ஆம் ஆண்டில் வெள்ளி மற்றும் 2000ஆம் ஆண்டில் வெண்கலம் வென்ற சேத்தன் பாபூர், இதற்கு முன் ஆசிய கோப்பையில் பதக்கம் வென்ற ஒரே இந்திய டேபிள் டென்னிஸ் வீரராக இருந்தார்.

• செயற்கை நுண்ணறிவுக்கான உலகளாவிய கூட்டாண்மைக்கான (GPAI) தலைமைப்பொறுப்பை பிரான்ஸிடம் இருந்து இந்தியா பெற்றுக்கொண்டது. GPAI என்பது அமெரிக்கா, இங்கிலாந்து, ஐரோப்பிய ஒன்றியம், ஆஸ்திரேலியா, கனடா, பிரான்ஸ், ஜெர்மனி, இத்தாலி, ஜப்பான், மெக்சிகோ, நியூசிலாந்து, கொரியா குடியரசு மற்றும் சிங்கப்பூர் உட்பட 25 உறுப்புநாடுகளின் சங்கமாகும். இந்தியா, கடந்த 2020இல் GPAIஇன் நிறுவன உறுப்பினராக இணைந்தது.

• அதானி நியூ இண்டஸ்ட்ரீஸ் இந்தியாவின் மிகப்பெரிய காற்றாலை மின்னியற்றியை குஜராத் மாநிலத்தில் உள்ள முந்த்ராவில் நிறுவியுள்ளது. இந்த விசையாழி ஒற்றுமை சிலையைவிட (182 மீ) உயரமானது என்று கூறப்படுகிறது. அதானி எண்டர்பிரைசஸ் லிமிடெடின் துணை நிறுவனமான முந்த்ரா விண்ட்டெக் லிமிடெட்மூலம் இவ்விசையாழி நிறுவப்பட்டுள்ளது.

• ஆசிய கான்டினென்டல் செஸ் சாம்பியன்ஷிப்பில் இந்திய கிராண்ட்மாஸ்டர் ஆர் பிரக்ஞானந்தா மற்றும் சகநாட்டு வீரரான PV நந்திதா ஆகியோர் முறையே ஓபன் மற்றும் பெண்கள் பிரிவில் பட்டங்களை வென்றனர். பிரக்ஞானந்தா ஒன்பதாவது மற்றும் கடைசி சுற்றில் சகநாட்டவரான B அதிபனுடன் டிரா செய்து ஏழு புள்ளிகளுடன் பட்டத்தை வென்றார். இந்த வெற்றி பிரக்ஞானந்தாவுக்கு அடுத்த FIDE உலகக்கோப்பைக்கான அனுமதியையும் பெற்றுத்தந்தது. பெண்களுக்கான போட்டியில் நந்திதா ஆட்டமிழக்காமல் 7.5 புள்ளிகளுடன் முதலிடம் பிடித்தார்.

• SEWAஇன் (Self Employed Women’s Association) நிறுவனரும் புகழ்பெற்ற பெண்ணுரிமை ஆர்வலருமான எலா பட் அண்மையில் காலமானார். SEWA ஆனது அமைப்புசாரா துறையில் பணிபுரியும் பெண்களின் தொழிற்சங்கமாக உருவாக்கப்பட்டது; இதில் இப்போது இரண்டு மில்லியன் உறுப்பினர்கள் உள்ளனர். 89 வயதான, ‘பத்ம பூஷண்’ விருதாளரான இவர், பெண்கள் அதிகாரமளிப்புத் துறையில் முன்னோடியாக இருந்தார்.

• 17ஆவது பிரவாசி பாரதிய திவாஸ் மாநாட்டில் கயானா அதிபர் Dr முகமது இர்பான் அலி முதன்மை விருந்தினராக கலந்துகொள்கிறார். இந்த மாநாடு 2023 ஜனவரியில் மத்திய பிரதேச மாநிலத்தின் இந்தூரில் நடைபெறும். இளையோர் பிரவாசி பாரதிய திவாஸ் விழாவில் சிறப்பு விருந்தினராக ஆஸ்திரேலிய நாடாளுமன்ற உறுப்பினர் சனெட்டா மஸ்கரென்ஹாஸ் கலந்துகொள்வார் என்றும் நடுவண் வெளியுறவு அமைச்சகம் தெரிவித்துள்ளது. 17ஆவது பிரவாசி பாரதிய திவாஸின் கருப்பொருள், “Diaspora: Reliable Partners for India’s Progress in Amrit Kaal” என்பதாகும்.

• Nearly 200 countries at the UN climate summit COP–27 agreed to set up a “loss and damage fund” to support poorer countries which are affected by climate impacts. ‘Loss and damage’ refer to costs being incurred from climate–fuelled weather extremes or impacts, like rising sea levels. The fund covers the cost of damage that poorer countries cannot avoid or adapt to.

• Manika Batra became the first Indian table tennis player to win a medal in the ITTF–ATTU Asian Cup Table Tennis Tournament, held in Bangkok, Thailand. She has won a bronze medal by defeating world No. 6 Hina Hayata of Japan. Chetan Baboor, with silver in 1997 and bronze in 2000, was the only Indian table tennis player to win a medal at the Asian Cup before this.

• India assumed the Chair of the Global Partnership on Artificial Intelligence (GPAI) from the outgoing chair France. GPAI is an association of 25 member countries, including the US, the UK, EU, Australia, Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, Mexico, New Zealand, Republic of Korea, and Singapore. India joined GPAI in 2020 as a founding member.

• As per a recent report released by Food and Agriculture Organisation (FAO), the UN children’s fund UNICEF and the World Food Programme, almost eight million people in South Sudan, or two thirds of the population in the deeply troubled country, are at risk of hunger. • Top–seeded Indian Grandmaster, R Praggnanandhaa and compatriot P V Nandhidhaa won the titles in the Open and women’s sections respectively in the Asian Continental Chess championship. Praggnanandhaa drew with compatriot B Adhiban in the ninth and final round to win the title with seven points. The victory also earned Praggnanandhaa a ticket to the next FIDE World Cup. In the women’s event, Nandhidhaa remained unbeaten throughout to finish first with 7.5 points.

• Renowned women’s rights activist Ela Bhatt, who is also the founder of SEWA (Self Employed Women’s Association), passed away recently. SEWA was formed as a trade union of women working in the unorganized sector, which now has two million members. The 89–year–old, also a Padma Bhushan recipient, was a pioneer in the field of women empowerment and received international recognition.

• Guyana President Dr. Mohamed Irfaan Ali will be the chief guest at the 17^th Pravasi Bharatiya Divas Convention. It will be held in January 2023 in Indore, Madhya Pradesh. The External Affairs Ministry also said that Zaneta Mascarenhas, Member of Parliament of Australia, will be the guest of honour at the Youth Pravasi Bharatiya Divas. The theme of the 17^th Pravasi Bharatiya Divas is – Diaspora: Reliable Partners for India’s Progress in Amrit Kaal.
