The West Bengal Joint Entrance Examinations Board was created to conduct and manage Common Entrance Examinations in the year 1962.Their priority was to give admission in the Engineering Graduation Courses in the West Bengal state. The Board will conduct the Common Entrance Examination for admission to graduation Courses in Pharmacy, Architecture, Medical, Dental, Engineering & Technology in Universities, Government and Private Institutes in the State f or the 2016–2017 academic session. West Bengal Joint Entrance Examinations Board is authorized to conduct these exams in the West Bengal. It is one of the oldest department and its main purpose to conduct entrance exam so that all the students can pursue their career in the fields as per their interest.

West Bengal JEE Exam Result Cut Off Merit List 2016
The entrance examination will be held on 17th May for three categories:
- Mathematics for 100 marks
- Biological Sciences for 150 marks
- Physics and Chemistry for 100 marks
Questions paper divided into three different categories and negative marking applicable on category 1 and 2
- Negative marks for category 1 is 1/4 marks
- Negative marks for Category 2 is 1/2 marks
Candidates who will appear and participate in the Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics examinations, will be eligible for Counseling for Engineering. Candidates, who will participate in the physics, chemistry and biology examinations, will be eligible for Medical Counselling.
