Teacher Eligibility Test (TET) is the exam conducted by the Teacher Recruitment Board (TRB) of Government of Tamilnadu. In 2009, Government of India announced an important law regarding the recruitment of teachers. According to the law passed by the Indian Government, recruitment of the teachers for the Government schools and Government aided schools to be only done through the TRB Teacher Eligibility Test (TET). Teacher Recruitment Board (TRB) of Government of Tamilnadu conducted the first TET exam in the year 2012. Over 6, 50, 000 graduates wrote the TET 2012 exam. The total number of vacancy is more in the year 2012, but only 3000 candidates passed the examination.

In the year 2013, the pass percentage is more when compared to the TET 2012 examination. So the Teacher Recruitment Board (TRB) introduced the new weightage system during the certificate verification. Due to the introduction of the new method of selection, the recruitment board faced many problems. So the recruitment board reduced 5 marks from the total marks for SC/ST candidates in the year 2013. It created big issue among the candidates. Due to this issue, many candidates filled case in the court. Now the judgment for the case comes to an end.

This year, Teacher Recruitment Board (TRB) officials have planned to conduct the Teacher Eligibility Test (TET) 2017 in the month of January or February 2017. It is expected to announce the notification for TET 2017 very soon by the recruitment board. Teacher Recruitment Board (TRB) has also decided to conduct the recruitment for the 1500 teacher vacancy available in the Government Higher Secondary Schools. Candidates can expect the announcement of 1500 teacher vacancy notification by today or tomorrow by the recruitment board.
