• உலக வங்கியானது அண்மையில், “Poverty and Shared Prosperity 2022: Correcting Course” என்ற தலைப்பில் ஒரு புதிய அறிக்கையை வெளியிட்டது. இந்த அறிக்கையின்படி, உணவு மற்றும் ஆற்றல் சார்ந்தவற்றின் அதிகரித்த விலைகள் COVID–19க்குப் பிறகான விரைவான மீளெழுச்சிக்குத் தடையாய் உள்ளன; இது பல தசாப்தங்களாக உலகளாவிய வறுமையொழிப்புக்கு மிகப்பெரிய பின்னடைவாக உள்ளது.

• இந்திய வான்படையின் வரலாற்றுச் சிறப்புமிக்க நடவடிக்கையாக, ஆயுத அமைப்புகள் (WS) கிளை என்ற புதிய கிளையை உருவாக்க அரசு ஒப்புதலளித்துள்ளது. WS கிளையை உருவாக்கியதன் நோக்கமானது, அனைத்து ஆயுத அமைப்பு நிபுணர்களையும் ஒரு குடையின்கீழ் ஒன்றிணைத்து, அனைத்து தரை மற்றும் வான்வழி ஆயுத அமைப்புகளின் செயல்பாடுகளுக்காக அர்ப்பணிக்கப்பட்டுள்ளது.

• விளையாட்டுத்துறையின் தேசிய விளையாட்டு மேம்பாட்டு நிதியமானது நடுவண் எரிசக்தி அமைச்சகத்தின்கீழ் உள்ள இரண்டு பெரிய பொதுத்துறை நிறுவனங்களான NTPC மற்றும் REC லிட் உடன் புரிந்துணர்வு ஒப்பந்தத்தில் கையெழுத்திட்டது. • World Bank recently released a new report, titled “Poverty and Shared Prosperity 2022: Correcting Course”. As per the report, higher food and energy prices hindered a quick recovery after COVID–19, which has been the biggest setback to global poverty alleviation in decades. Extreme poverty is concentrated in sub–Saharan African countries, which has a poverty rate of about 35 % and accounts for 60 % of all people in extreme poverty.

• The Union Government has appointed a commission to consider the possibility of granting SC status to the persons who have historically belonged to the Scheduled Castes but have converted to religions other than Hinduism, Buddhism and Sikhism. The three–member Commission is headed by former Chief Justice of India K G Balakrishnan. The Cimmission has been asked to submit report in two years.

• The United Nations children’s agency (UNICEF) has announced in its recent report that more than one million people have been displaced in Myanmar since the military coup last year. The Southeast Asian nation has been in turmoil since the military ousted Aung San Suu Kyi’s government last year. • In a historic step for the Indian Air Force (IAF), Government has approved the creation of a new branch, called the Weapon Systems (WS) branch. The creation of WS branch would entail unification of all weapon system operators under one entity dedicated to the operational employment of all ground–based and specialist airborne weapon systems.
• The branch would encompass operators in four specialised streams of Surface–to–Surface missiles, Surface–to–Air missiles, Remotely Piloted Aircraft and Weapon System Operators in twin/multi–crew aircraft. The branch will contribute immensely by enhancing the war fighting capability of the Indian Air Force.

The Conference had discussions related to building energy efficiency and reducing carbon emission from buildings.
