மக்கள்தொகை பெருக்கத்தில் 2023-ஆம் ஆண்டில் சீனாவைப் பின்னுக்குத் தள்ளி இந்தியா முதலிடம் பெறும் என்றும், நிகழாண்டு நவம்பரில் உலக மக்கள்தொகை 800 கோடியை எட்டும் என்றும் ஐநா கணித்துள்ளது. இதுதொடர்பாக ஐநா பொருளாதார, சமூக விவகாரத் துறையின் மக்கள்தொகை பிரிவு மேற்கொண்ட ஆய்வில் தெரிய வந்ததாவது:

உலக மக்கள்தொகை நிகழாண்டு நவ.15-இல் 800 கோடியை எட்டும். 1950-க்குப் பின்னர் உலக மக்கள்தொகை மெதுவான வீதத்தில் வளர்ச்சியடைகிறது. 2030-ஆம் ஆண்டில் உலக மக்கள்தொகை 850 கோடியையும், 2050-ஆம் ஆண்டில் 970 கோடியையும் எட்டும். 2080-இல் உலக மக்கள்தொகை 1,040 கோடியாக இருக்கும். 2100 வரை இதே விகிதம் நீடிக்கும்.

உலக மக்கள்தொகையில் 29 சதவீதத்துடன் அதாவது 230 கோடி மக்கள்தொகையுடன் 2022-இல் உலகின் அதிக மக்கள்தொகைகொண்ட பிராந்தியமாக கிழக்கு மற்றும் தென்-கிழக்கு ஆசியா திகழ்கிறது. மத்திய, தெற்கு ஆசியா 210 கோடி மக்களுடன் உலக மக்கள்தொகையில் 26 சதவீதத்தைக் கொண்டுள்ளது.
