• நடுவண் வணிகம் & தொழிற்துறை அமைச்சகம் LEADS (பல்வேறு மாநிலங்களிடையே சரக்குப் போக்குவரத்தை எளிதாக்குதல்) – 2022 என்ற அறிக்கையை வெளியிட்டது. 2022 – சரக்குப் போக்குவரத்திற்கான குறியீட்டில் சாதனையாளர்களாக வகைப்படுத்தப்பட்ட 15 மாநிலங்கள் மற்றும் யூனியன் பிரதேசங்களில் ஆந்திர பிரதேசம், அஸ்ஸாம் மற்றும் குஜராத் ஆகியவை அடங்கும். இந்தக் குறியீடு ஏற்றுமதி மற்றும் பொருளாதார வளர்ச்சியை மேம்படுத்துவதற்குத் தேவையான சரக்குப் போக்குவரத்துச் சேவைகளின் செயல்திறனைக் குறிக்கிறது.

• இயற்கைக்கான உலகளாவிய நிதியத்தின் (WWF) அண்மைய ‘Living Planet’ என்ற அறிக்கையின்படி, கடந்த 50 ஆண்டுகளில் உலகம் முழுவதும் பாலூட்டிகள், பறவைகள், அருவிகள், ஊர்வனங்கள் மற்றும் மீன்களின் வன உயிரிகளின் எண்ணிக்கையில் 69% சரிவு ஏற்பட்டுள்ளது. அதிகபட்ச சரிவு (94%) இலத்தீன் அமெரிக்கா மற்றும் கரீபியன் பகுதியில் காணப்படுகிறது. பல்லுயிர் இழப்பு மற்றும் காலநிலை நெருக்கடி ஆகியவை ஒன்றோடொன்று பின்னிப்பிணைந்துள்ளன என்பதையும் இந்த அறிக்கை வலியுறுத்துகிறது. ஆப்பிரிக்கா 1970–2018 வரை அதன் வனவுயிரி எண்ணிக்கையில் 66% வீழ்ச்சியையும் ஆசியா பசிபிக் 55 சதவீத வீழ்ச்சியையும் பதிவுசெய்துள்ளது.

• அழிந்துவரும் உயிரினமான தேவாங்கிற்கு (Slender Loris) இந்தியாவிலேயே முதன்முறையாக தமிழ்நாட்டில் சரணாலயம் அமைக்கப்படவுள்ளது. கரூர் மற்றும் திண்டுக்கல் மாவட்ட வனப்பகுதிகளில் 11,806 ஹெக்டேர் பரப்பை இணைத்து கடவூரில் தேவாங்கு சரணாலயம் உருவாக்கப்படும். பன்னாட்டு இயற்கைப் பாதுகாப்பு சங்கத்தின்படி, தேவாங்கு அழிந்துவரும் உயிரினமாக பட்டியலிடப்பட்டுள்ளது. இரவுநேரத்தில் உணவைத்தேடும் பாலூட்டியான இது தனது வாழ்நாளின் பெரும்பகுதியை மரங்களில் செலவிடுகிறது. வேளாண் பயிர்களுக்கு தீங்குவிளைவிக்கும் பூச்சிகளை வேட்டையாடி இயற்கை வேட்டையாடியாகத் திகழ்வதன்மூலம் அவை உழவர்களுக்கு உதவுகின்றன.

• பெங்களூரு FC–உம் அதன் அணித்தலைவர் சுனில் சேத்ரியும் இறுதிப்போட்டியில் மும்பை சிட்டி FC அணியை வீழ்த்தி தங்கள் முதல் துரந்த் கோப்பைக்கான கால்பந்து போட்டி பட்டத்தை வென்றனர். இதன்மூலம் 38 வயதான சுனில் சேத்ரி தனது முதல் துரந்த் கோப்பையை வென்றார். பெங்களூரு FC அணி கடந்த 2013ஆம் ஆண்டு முதல் துரந்த் கோப்பை வெற்றியைப் பதிவு செய்து வருகிறது.

• இந்தியக் கடற்படைக் கப்பல் அஜை (P34) நாட்டிற்கு 32 ஆண்டுகால சிறப்பான சேவையாற்றிய பிறகு சமீபத்தில் பணிநீக்கம் செய்யப்பட்டது. அதன் பணி நீக்க விழா மும்பையில் உள்ள கடற்படைக் கப்பல் தளத்தில் நடைபெற்றது. INS அஜை என்பது மேற்குக் கடற்படைக் கட்டளையின் அபை வகை நீர்மூழ்கி எதிர்ப்புப் போர்க்கப்பலாகும். இந்தக் கப்பல் 1990 ஜனவரி.24இல் பணிக்குச் சேர்க்கப்பட்டது. இது 1999ஆம் ஆண்டு கார்கில் போரின்போது, ‘ஆபரேஷன் தல்வார்’ மற்றும் 2001இல், ‘ஆபரேஷன் பராக்கிரமம்’ உட்பட பல்வேறு பணிகளுக்கு அனுப்பப்பட்டது.

• இந்திய இராணுவம், பாரத அகலக்கற்றை வலையமைப்பு நிறுவனத்துடன் (BBNL) இணைந்து சியாச்சின் பனிப் பாறைப்பகுதியில் செயற்கைக்கோள் வழியான அகலக்கற்றை (broadband) அடிப்படையிலான இணைய சேவையைக் கொண்டுவந்துள்ளது. இமயமலையின் கிழக்குக் காரகோரம் மலைத்தொடரில் 19,061 அடி உயரத்தில் சியாச்சின் பனிப்பாறை அமைந்துள்ளது. BBNL என்பது முற்றிலும் அரசாங்கத்திற்குச் சொந்தமான அகலக்கற்றை அடிப்படையிலான இணைய சேவையை வழங்கும் ஒரு நிறுவனமாகும். தொலைதூர கிராமங்களுக்குச் செயற்கைக்கோள்கள்மூலம் இணைய இணைப்பு வழங்கும், ‘பாரத் நெட்’ என்ற திட்டத்தின்கீழ் இது செயல்படுகிறது.

• The Union Commerce and Industry Ministry launched the LEADS (Logistics Ease Across Different States) 2022 report. Andhra Pradesh, Assam and Gujarat are among the 15 States and UTs categorised as achievers in the logistics index chart 2022. The index is an indicator of efficiency of logistical services necessary for promoting exports and economic growth.

• According to the latest Living Planet Report by World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF), there has been a 69 per cent decline in the wildlife populations of mammals, birds, amphibians, reptiles and fish, across the globe in the last 50 years.
• The highest decline (94 per cent) was in the Latin America and the Caribbean region. The report also emphasised that Biodiversity loss and climate crisis are intertwined. Africa recorded a 66 per cent fall in its wildlife populations from 1970–2018 and the Asia Pacific 55 per cent.

• A pod of 240 pilot whales has lost their lives after being stranded on New Zealand’s Pitt Island in the Pacific Ocean. The pod of whales has been found on the Chatham Islands archipelago, which consists of Pitt Island and Chatham Island with minimal human presence. Earlier, 215 whales died following a mysterious beaching event in the country.

• India’s first ever sanctuary for the endangered Slender Loris will be set up in Tamil Nadu. The Kadavur Slender Loris Sanctuary will be formed by merging 11,806 hectares in the forest areas of Karur and Dindigul districts.
• Slender Loris is listed as an endangered species according to the International Union for the Conservation of Nature (IUCN).  It is a small nocturnal mammal that spends most of its life on trees. They help farmers by acting as biological predators of pests that harm agricultural crops.

• As per the report prepared jointly by Niti Aayog and the Council of Scientific & Industrial Research (CSIR), India bears the world’s highest health and economic burden due to lead poisoning. Bihar, Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Jharkhand, Chhattisgarh and Andhra Pradesh had the highest average blood lead levels (BLL). A 2020 report by UNICEF and non–profit Pure Earth had found India had major number of the 800 million children poisoned by lead globally. It meant that half of India’s children were poisoned by lead.

• Bengaluru FC and their captain Sunil Chhetri won their maiden Durand Cup football tournament title after beating Mumbai City FC in the final clash. The 38–year–old Sunil Chhetri clinched his first Durand Cup. Bengaluru FC has achieved first Durand Cup victory since coming into existence in 2013.

• Indian Naval Ship Ajay (P34) was decommissioned recently after 32 years of distinguished services to the nation. The decommissioning ceremony was held at Mumbai’s Naval Dockyard. INS Ajay was an Abhay class anti–submarine warfare corvette of Western Naval Command. The ship was commissioned on January 24, 1990. It was posted on various deployments including Operation Talwar during the Kargil War in 1999 and Operation Parakram in 2001.

• The 77^th session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA–77) was inaugurated recently in New York followed by the High–Level Week. The UN General Assembly (UNGA) is the main policy–making organ of the United Nations. • The Indian Army, in collaboration with Bharat Broadband Network Limited (BBNL), has activated satellite broadband–based internet service on the Siachen Glacier. The glacier is located in the eastern Karakoram range of the Himalayas at a height of 19,061 feet. The BBNL is a wholly government–owned broadband infrastructure provider company. It is working under Bharat Net scheme to provide internet connectivity through satellites to rural remote areas.
