• The Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) summit is being held in Samarkand in Uzbekistan. It is SCO’s first in–person summit in after two years. The meeting aims to deliberate on regional security challenges, boosting trade and energy supplies among other issues.

• The Union Cabinet of India approved the Signing of Guarantees for hosting Federation Internationale de Football Association (FIFA) Under 17 Women’s World Cup 2022 in India.
• The prestigious FIFA Under–17 Women’s World Cup will be held for the first time in India between 11 and 30 October, 2022. India had earlier hosted the FIFA Under–17 Men’s World Cup 2017. The matches will be played in Navi Mumbai, Goa and Bhubaneswar while teams from 16 countries will participate in the event.

• Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot launched ‘Mahila Nidhi’, a loan scheme for the social and economic development of women through loans. The scheme was launched on the occasion of Women’s Equality Day. Under the scheme, easy credit will be available to women for starting new businesses and expanding their business. In the state budget 2022–23, the government announced to set up ‘Mahila Nidhi’ through Rajasthan Rural Livelihood Development Council.

• The Department of Biotechnology in partnership with the Serum Institute of India is set to launch India’s first indigenously developed Quadrivalent Human Papillomavirus vaccine (qHPV) against cervical cancer. The National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT) and the state education boards are collaborating to draw up a ‘benchmark framework’ to bring uniformity across state and central boards. PARAKH will be the national single–window source for all assessment–related information. It will oversee the periodic tests like the National Achievement Survey (NAS) and State Achievement Survey.
