• இந்தியாவும் சுவீடனும் இணைந்து COP27இன் ஒருபகுதியாக, ‘LeadIT உச்சிமாநாட்டை’ நடத்தின. LeadIT (தொழிற் துறை மாற்றத்திற்கான தலைமை) முனைவு சுவீடன் மற்றும் இந்திய அரசாங்கங்களால் 2019 செப்டம்பரில் ஐநா காலநிலை நடவடிக்கை உச்சிமாநாட்டில் தொடங்கப்பட்டது. மேலும் இதன் உலகப் பொருளாதார மன்றம் (WEF) ஆதரிக்கிறது. இது தொழிற்துறையின் குறைந்த கரியமில வாயு உமிழவுக்கான மாற்றத்தில் கவனம் செலுத்துகிறது. இந்த உச்சிமாநாட்டைத் தொடர்ந்து COP27இல் இந்திய அரங்கில் ‘LeadIT உச்சிமாநாட்டு அறிக்கை – 2022’ வெளியீட்டு விழா நடைபெற்றது.

• அமெரிக்க விண்வெளி ஆய்வு நிறுவனமான NASA, பூமியின் துணைக்கோளான நிலவுக்கு, ‘ஆர்டெமிஸ்’ என்ற மிகவும் ஆற்றல்வாய்ந்த ஏவுகலத்தை அனுப்பியுள்ளது. 100 மீட்டர் உயரமுள்ள ‘ஆர்ட்டெமிஸ்’ ஏவுகலம், நிலவின் திசையில் விண்கலத்தை அனுப்பும் நோக்கத்தைக் கொண்டுள்ளது. அவ்விண்கலம், விண்வெளி ஏவுதல் அமைப்பு ஏவுகலம் மற்றும் ஓரியன் விண்கலம் ஆகியவற்றை உள்ளடக்கியுள்ளது.

• 2022 டிசம்பர்.1 முதல் இந்தோனேஷியாவிடமிருந்து பொறுப்பை பெற்றுக்கொண்டு ஓராண்டு காலத்திற்கு G20இன் தலைமைப் பொறுப்பை இந்தியா வகிக்கும். “ஒரே பூமி, ஒரே குடும்பம், ஒரே எதிர்காலம்” என்பது இந்தியாவின் தலைமையின் கீழ் இருக்கப்போகும் G20 அமைப்பின் கருப்பொருளாகத் தேர்ந்தெடுக்கப்பட்டுள்ளது. “வளர்ச்சிக்கான தரவு” என்ற கொள்கை நமது ஒட்டுமொத்த கருப்பொருளின் ஒருங்கிணைந்த பகுதியாக இருக்கும் என்று இந்தியப் பிரதமர் அறிவித்துள்ளார்.

• CITES உறுப்பு நாடுகளின் 19ஆவது மாநாடு மத்திய அமெரிக்க நாடான பனாமாவில் நடைபெற்று வருகிறது. CITES என்பது சில வனவிலங்குகள் மற்றும் தாவர இனங்களின் நாடு கடந்த இயக்கத்தை ஒழுங்குபடுத்தும் ஒப்பந்தமாகும். அழிந்துவரும் உயிரினங்களில் சர்வதேச வர்த்தகம் தொடர்பான தீர்மானத்தின் (CITES) கீழ் நன்னீர் ஊர்வனமான ஆமையைப் (red-crowned roofed turtle) பாதுகாக்க இந்தியா முன்மொழிந்துள்ளது. இந்தியா மற்றும் வங்கதேசத்தை பூர்வீகமாகக் கொண்ட இந்த ஆமை இனம், அழிந்துவரும் அபாயத்தில் உள்ளது.

• உலக சிறுசேமிப்பு நாளின் 98ஆவது ஆண்டு கொண்டாட்டம் இந்தியாவில் அக்.30 அன்று கடைப்பிடிக்கப்பட்டது. 1924ஆம் ஆண்டு இத்தாலியின் மிலன் நகரில் நடைபெற்ற முதல் சர்வதேச சிக்கன மாநாட்டில் அக்.31ஆம் தேதியை உலக சிறுசேமிப்பு நாளாக அறிவித்தது. இந்த நாளைக் கொண்டாடுவதன் நோக்கம், சேமிப்பை நோக்கிய நமது பழக்கத்தை மாற்றுவதும், செல்வத்தின் முக்கியத்துவத்தை தொடர்ந்து நமக்கு நினைவூட்டுவதும் ஆகும். இந்த ஆண்டு கருப்பொருள், “Saving prepares you for the future” என்பதாகும்.

• பிரேசிலுக்கான அதிபர் தேர்தலில், லூயிஸ் இனாசியோ லுலா டா சில்வா 2 மில்லியன் வாக்குகள் வித்தியாசத்தில் வெற்றிபெற்றதன்மூலம் தற்போதைய பிரேசில் அதிபர் ஜெய்ர் போல்சனாரோவை வீழ்த்தினார். இடதுசாரி முன்னாள் தலைவரான லூலா அதிபராக வெற்றிபெற்ற போதிலும், தற்போதைய தீவிர வலதுசாரி போட்டியாளரான ஜெய்ர் போல்சனாரோ தனது தோல்வியை ஒப்புக்கொள்ளாமல் உள்ளார். பதவியில் இருக்கும் அதிபர் ஒருவர் மீண்டும் தேர்தலில் வெற்றிபெறத்தவறிய முதல் பிரேசில் அதிபர் தேர்தலாக இது அமைந்தது.

• இந்தியாவில், ‘Football4Schools’ என்ற திட்டத்தைச் செயல்படுத்துவதற்காக நடுவண் கல்வி அமைச்சகம் சமீபத்தில் FIFA மற்றும் AIFF உடன் புரிந்துணர்வு ஒப்பந்தத்தில் கையெழுத்திட்டுள்ளது. ‘Football4Schools’ திட்டம், படிப்புடன் முதன்மை விளையாட்டுக்கள்மூலம் குழந்தைகளை ஊக்குவிக்கும் மற்றும் அவர்களின் முழுமையான வளர்ச்சியை உறுதிசெய்யும் ஒரு நேர்மறையான கருவியாக இருக்கும் என்று எதிர்பார்க்கப்படுகிறது.

• உலக நலவாழ்வு அமைப்பு (WHO) உலகளாவிய காசநோய் அறிக்கை-2022ஐ வெளியிட்டது. இது காசநோய்க்கான நோயைக்கண்டறிதல், சிகிச்சை & பாதிப்பு ஆகியவற்றில் COVID-19 தொற்றுநோயின் தாக்கத்தைக் குறிப்பிடுகிறது. 2021ஆம் ஆண்டுக்கான இந்தியாவின் காசநோய் பாதிப்பு 100,000 மக்கள்தொகைக்கு 210 ஆகும்; இது 2015இன் அடிப்படை ஆண்டோடு ஒப்பிடும்போது 18% சரிவாகும். இது உலக சராசரியான 11%ஐவிட 7 சதவீத புள்ளிகள் அதிகம். காசநோய் பாதிப்பு விகித அடிப்படையில் இந்தியா 36ஆவது இடத்தில் உள்ளது.

• இந்திய வேளாண் ஆராய்ச்சி நிறுவனமானது இரண்டு புதிய குறுவைகளை உத்தர பிரதேச மாநிலத்தில் வைத்து வெற்றிகரமாகப் பரிசோதித்துள்ளது. அவை ‘பூசா நரேந்திர கலாநாமக் 1638’ மற்றும் ‘பூசா நரேந்திர கலாநாமக் 1652’ ஆகும். ‘கலாநாமக்’ என்பது கருப்பு உமியுடனும் மிகுந்த வாசனையுடனும் கூடிய ஒரு பாரம்பரிய நெல் வகை ஆகும். இது ஸ்ரவஸ்தி மக்களுக்கு புத்தரளித்த பரிசாகக் கருதப்படுகிறது. இது உத்தரபிரதேசத்தின் தெராய் பகுதியின் 11 மாவட்டங்களிலும் நேபாளத்திலும் விளைகிறது. ‘கதிர் சாய்தலால்’ பாதிப்புக்குள்ளாகும் இந்த நெல் வகையில் புதிய குள்ள இரகம் இரட்டிப்பு மகசூலைத் தரும் வகையில் உருவாக்கப்பட்டுள்ளது.

• உத்தர பிரதேச மாநிலத்தின் இராணிப்பூர் புலிகள் காப்பகம் இந்தியாவின் 53ஆம் புலிகள் காப்பகமாக மாறியுள்ளது. இப்புலிகள் காப்பகம் 529.36 சதுர கிலோமீட்டர் பரப்பளவில் அமைந்துள்ளது. இது துத்வா, பிலிபித் மற்றும் அமங்கர் ஆகிய மூன்று புலிகள் காப்பகங்களைத் தொடர்ந்து உத்தர பிரதேச மாநிலத்தின் நான்காவது புலிகள் காப்பகமாக உள்ளது. இராணிப்பூர் புலிகள் காப்பகம் வட வெப்பமண்டல உலர் இலையுதிர் காடுகளால் சூழப்பட்டுள்ளது மற்றும் புலி, சிறுத்தை, கரடி, புள்ளிமான், சாம்பார், சிங்காரமான் போன்ற பாலூட்டிகளின் தாயகமாக இது உள்ளது.

• India and Sweden hosted the LeadIT Summit, on the side–lines of COP27. The LeadIT (Leadership for Industry Transition) initiative was launched by the governments of Sweden and India at the UN Climate Action Summit in September 2019 and is supported by the World Economic Forum. It focuses on low carbon transition of the hard to abate industrial sector. The summit was followed by the public launch of the LeadIT Summit Statement 2022 in the India Pavilion at COP27.

• American space agency NASA has launched its most powerful rocket ‘Artemis’ to the Moon. The 100m–tall Artemis vehicle has an objective to send an astronaut capsule in the direction of the Moon. The spacecraft, comprises the Space Launch System (SLS) rocket and Orion capsule.

• India will assume G20 Presidency for one year, beginning December 1, 2022, taking over from Indonesia. ‘One Earth, One Family, One Future’ has been selected as India’s theme of G–20 Presidency. The Indian Prime Minister announced that principle of ‘Data for development’ will be an integral part of overall theme of our Presidency.

• The 19^th Conference of the Parties to CITES is being held in Panama, a Central American country. CITES is an agreement regulating the movement across international borders of certain wild animal and plant species. India has proposed to protect a species of freshwater reptile called the red–crowned roofed turtle under the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species (CITES). The turtle, native to India and Bangladesh, is at a high risk of extinction.

The first International Thrift Congress which was held in Milan, Italy in 1924 had declared October 31 as the World Thrift Day. • Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva has won Brazil’s presidential election by a small margin of 2 million votes thereby defeating incumbent Jair Bolsonaro. Although the Left–wing former leader Lula wins presidency, incumbent far–right contender Jair Bolsonaro has not conceded his defeat yet. The election marked the first time that the sitting president failed to win re–election.

• The World Health Organisation (WHO) released the Global TB Report 2022, which notes the impact of COVID–19 pandemic on the diagnosis, treatment and burden of disease for TB. India’s TB incidence for the year 2021 is 210 per 100,000 population, compared to the baseline year of 2015. There has been an 18% decline which is 7 percentage points better than the global average of 11%. India is placed at 36th position in terms of TB incidence rates.

• Indian Agriculture Research Institute has successfully tested two new dwarf varieties: Pusa Narendra Kalanamak 1638 and Pusa Narendra Kalanamak 1652, in Uttar Pradesh. Kalanamak, a traditional variety of paddy with a black husk and a strong fragrance. It is considered a gift from Lord Buddha to the people of the Sravasti. It is grown in 11 districts of the Terai region of Uttar Pradesh and in Nepal. The crop was affected by ‘lodging’ condition, while the new dwarf variety seeks to give double the yield.

• Uttar Pradesh’s Ranipur Tiger Reserve has become the 53^rd tiger reserve of India. The tiger reserve is spread across over 529.36 sq km. It is also the fourth tiger reserve in Uttar Pradesh and the three other tiger reserves being Dudhwa, Pilibhit and Amangarh. Ranipur tiger reserve is covered by northern tropical dry deciduous forests and is home to mammals like tiger, leopard, bear, spotted deer, sambhar, chinkara among others.
