• இலட்சத்தீவுகளின் மினிகாய் துண்டி கடற்கரை மற்றும் கத்மத் கடற்கரை ஆகிய இரண்டு கடற்கரைகள், ‘நீலக்கொடி சான்று பெற்ற கடற்கரைகள்’ பட்டியலில் சேர்க்கப்பட்டன. இது சுற்றுச்சூழல் கல்விக்கான அறக்கட்டளை (FEE)மூலம் உலகின் தூய்மையான கடற்கரைகளுக்கு வழங்கப்படும் சுற்றுச்சூழல்சார் சான்றாகும். இதன்மூலம், இந்தியாவில் இப்போது பன்னிரு கடற்கரைகள் நீலக்கொடி சான்றின்கீழ் சான்றளிக்கப்பட்டுள்ளன. 729 கடற்கரைகளுடன் ஸ்பெயின், நீலக்கொடி சான்று பெற்ற கடற்கரைகள்கொண்ட நாடுகளின் பட்டியலில் முதலிடத்தில் உள்ளது.

• உலக நலவாழ்வு அமைப்பானது (WHO) ஆப்பிரிக்காவில் மலேரியா பரவுவதைத் தடுக்க புதிய முனைவுகளைத் தொடங்கியுள்ளது. நகர்ப்புற சூழல்களில் மலேரியா நோயைப் பரப்புவதற்கான முதன்மை காரணியாக Anopheles stephensi உள்ளது. இந்த முனைவானது ஆப்பிரிக்க கண்டத்தில் Anopheles stephensi–ஐ ஒழிப்பதை நோக்கமாகக் கொண்டுள்ளது. WHO ஆனது உலகளாவிய கடத்திகள் கட்டுப்பாட்டு மறுமொழி (Global Vector Control Response) 2017–2030ஐயும் வெளியிட்டது.

• Two beaches from Lakshadweep Minicoy Thundi Beach and Kadmat Beach were added to the list of ‘Blue Flag Beaches’. It is an eco–label given to the cleanest beaches in the world by the Foundation for Environment Education (FEE). With this, India now has 12 beaches certified under the Blue Flag Certification. Spain with 729 sites tops the list of countries with Blue Flag awarded sites.

• The 27th annual UN meeting on climate, COP27 (Conference of Parties) will take place in Sharm–el–Sheikh, Egypt from 6^th to 18^th November. This will be the fifth time a Climate Conference is being hosted in Africa. • The World Health Organization (WHO) has launched new initiatives to stop the spread of invasive malaria vectors in Africa.
