• இந்திய தொழில்நுட்பக்கழகம் – மெட்ராஸ் (IIT–M) ஆனது நியூயார்க்கைச் சார்ந்த IBM குவாண்டம் நெட்வொர்க்கில் இணைந்த முதல் இந்திய கல்வி நிறுவனம் என்ற பெருமையைப் பெற்றுள்ளது. • அமெரிக்காவில் புற்றுநோய் இறப்புகளை குறைக்கும் நோக்கில் ஒரு இலட்சிய திட்டத்தை அமெரிக்க அதிபர் ஜோ பைடன் அறிவித்துள்ளார். இந்தத் திட்டத்திற்காக, ‘ARPA–H, நலத்திற்கான மேம்பட்ட ஆராய்ச்சித்திட்ட முகமைகள்’ என்ற புதிய முகமை உருவாக்கப்பட்டுள்ளது. நாட்டில் இதய நோய்க்கு அடுத்தபடியாக அதிக இறப்புகளுக்கு காரணம் புற்றுநோயாகும். • ஜப்பான் வானிலை ஆய்வுமையத்தின்படி, தைவான் அருகேயுள்ள இஷிகாகி தீவை, ‘முய்ஃபா’ சூறாவளி தாக்கியது. ஜப்பானின் தென்தீவுகளை அந்தச் சூறாவளி நெருங்கியது. ‘முய்ஃபா’ சூறாவளியானது ஜப்பானின் ஒகினாவாவில் உள்ள தீவுகளில் பலத்த மழையையும் காற்றையும் கொண்டுவந்தது. இந்தச் சூறாவளி நெருங்கிவரும் நிலையில் சீனாவும் அவசர நடவடிக்கையை மேற்கொண்டு வருகிறது.

• Australian telecom giant Optus said personal information and form of identification of 1.2 million customers was compromised in the recent cyber attack. It is considered as one of the biggest cyber breaches the country has faced. The breach affected 10 million customers, equivalent to around 40% of Australia’s population. The federal government has released changes to telecommunications laws, after the breach.

• The National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI) has clarified that there will be no charge for RuPay credit card use on Unified Payments Interface (UPI) for transactions up to ₹2,000. Nil Merchant Discount Rate (MDR) would apply for this category up to the transaction amount less than and equal to ₹2,000. In September, RBI Governor launched the Rupay credit card on UPI network.

• The World Bank downgraded India’s economic growth forecast to 6.5% for the current fiscal year (2022–’23) from its earlier estimate of 7.5% announced in June. The Reserve Bank of India had also cut its growth forecast to 7% from an earlier estimate of 7.2% after increasing the repo rate by 50 basis points to 5.9% to fight inflation. UNCTAD also projected that India’s economic growth will decline to 5.7% this year from 8.2% in 2021.

Over 20 books authored by Annie Ernaux have been school texts in France for decades.
