Eligibility: The candidates who wish to apply for the Curator posts at the Indian Museum must meet the following eligibility criteria:

Curator (Archaeology, Anthropology, Conservation, Fine Arts and Crafts,) –

01. Curator (Archaeology) – 1 post

Essential Qualification –  Master’s Degree from a recognised University in History or Ancient Indian History Culture and Archaeology (AIHCA) or Archaeology or Museology or Sanskrit or Pali or Prakrit or Persian or Arabic. Evidence of published research work. Computer knowledge in at least MS Office. Work experience in a Museum of National or International repute with 5 years curatorial experience in Pay Level – 10 (Rs. 56,100 – 1,77,500) or 6 years curatorial experience in Pay Level – 8 (Rs. 47,600 – 1,51,100) or 7 years curatorial experience in Pay Level – 7 (Rs. 44,900 – 1,42,400) or 10 years curatorial experience in Pay Level – 6 (Rs. 35,400 – 1,12,400). v) Field experience and practical training in Archaeology Desirable: Experience of organising exhibition or educational activities

02. CURATOR (Anthropology) – 1 post

Essential Qualification – Master’s Degree in Anthropology from a recognised University or equivalent. Evidence of published research work. Computer knowledge in atleast MS Office. Work experience in a Museum of National or International repute with 5 years curatorial experience in Pay Level – 10 (Rs. 56,100 – 1,77,500) or 6 years curatorial experience in Pay Level – 8 (Rs. 47,600 – 1,51,100) or 7 years curatorial experience in Pay Level – 7 (Rs. 44,900 – 1,42,400) or 10 years curatorial experience in Pay Level – 6 (Rs. 35,400 – 1,12,400). v) Field experience and practical training in Anthropology. 03. CURATOR (Fine Arts and Crafts) – 1 post

Essential Qualification – Master’s Degree in Ancient Indian History Culture and Archaeology (AIHCA) or History or History of Art from a recognised University or equivalent. Field experience and practical training in Fine Arts & Crafts. Computer knowledge in atleast MS Office. iv) Work experience in a Museum of National or International repute with 5 years curatorial experience in Pay Level – 10 (Rs. 56,100 – 1,77,500) or 6 years curatorial experience in Pay Level – 8 (Rs. 47,600 – 1,51,100) or 7 years curatorial experience in Pay Level – 7 (Rs. 44,900 – 1,42,400) or 10 years curatorial experience in Pay Level – 6 (Rs. 35,400 – 1,12,400). 04. CURATOR (Conservation) – 1 post

Essential Qualification –  Master’s Degree with Chemistry or Conservation or Fine Arts with B.Sc. from a recognised University or equivalent. Computer knowledge in at least MS Office. Work experience in a Museum of National or International repute with 5 years curatorial experience in Pay Level – 10 (Rs. 56,100 – 1,77,500) or 6 years curatorial experience in Pay Level –8 (Rs. 47,600 – 1,51,100) or 7 years curatorial experience in Pay Level – 7 (Rs. 44,900 – 1,42,400) or 10 years curatorial experience in Pay Level – 6 (Rs. 35,400 – 1,12,400). Evidence of published research work in reputed journals. Knowledge of reading and writing any of languages such as Sanskrit, Pali, Prakrit, Persian, Arabic

Publication Officer –

Essential Qualification –  M.A. in History (Ancient, Medieval, Modern) or English or Bengali or Persian or Arabic or Fine Arts or Mass Communication from a recognised University or Institution or equivalent. Must have contributed articles in English or Urdu or Hindi or Bengali in reputed journals of Art or Literature or History. Practical training in publication work, including layout, typography printing process, ordering blocks etc. proof-reading and copy editing.

Desirable: Degree or Diploma in Journalism, printing technology. Eight years’ experience in Publication, editing or printing work in any institution. Knowledge of Computer Application or MS Office or Corel Draw or Illustrator or Page Maker. Eight years’ experience in the field of Publication or Editing or Copy Editing at a Senior level in a reputed Museum or Culture Government Institution or University.

Deputy Curator (Conservation) –

Essential Qualification – Master’s Degree with Chemistry or Conservation or Fine Arts with B.Sc. from a recognised University or equivalent. Evidence of published research work. Computer Knowledge in atleast MS Office. 5 years’ work experience in a Museum of National or International repute with 8 years curatorial experience in Pay Level 7 (Rs. 44,900 – 1,42,400) or Pay Level 6 (Rs. 35,400 – 1,12,400).

Desirable – Degree or Diploma in Museology. Note – Qualifications relaxable by the Board on the recommendation of the Selection Committee in the case of candidates otherwise well qualified.

Head Modeller –

Essential Qualification – Degree or Diploma in Modelling sculpture from a recognised University or Institute. About 5 years’ experience in a responsible position of working on sculpture models and allied works.

Desirable – Knowledge of preparing diagrams and scale models. Note – Qualifications relaxable by the Board on the recommendation of the Selection Committee in the case of candidate otherwise well qualified.

Library and Information Officer –

Essential Qualification –  Masters or equivalent Hon’s Degree of a recognised University in Indian History or Anthropology or Arts. Diploma in Library Science of a recognised University or Institution. 7 Years’ experience in a Library of standing in India preferably a Museum Library. Research experience with evidence of published research work in Archaeology or Art or Anthropology.

Note – Qualifications relaxable by the Board on the recommendation of the Selection Committee in the case of candidates otherwise well qualified.

Age Limit:

1. Curator (Archaeology, Anthropology, Conservation, Fine Arts and Crafts,) – Not more than 45 years

2. Publication Officer – Not more than 45 years

3. Deputy Curator (Conservation) – Not more than 45 years

4. Head Modeller – Not more than 30 years

5. Library and Information Officer – Not more than 30 years

The Upper age Indian Museum is relaxed by 5 years for SC/ST; 3 years for OBC, 10 Years for Persons with Disabilities (15 years for SC/ST PWD’s & 13 years for OBC PWD’s) and for Ex-S as per Govt. of India rules. Candidates Relaxation in Upper Age Indian Museum it will be provided as per Govt. Rules

Salary Details:

1. Curator (Archaeology, Anthropology, Conservation, Fine Arts and Crafts,) – Level – 11 (Rs.67,000 – 2,08,700/-) & other allowances as per 7th CPC, adopted byIndian Museum, Kolkata. Total emoluments (with 42 % D.A.) at starting is Rs. 1,24,637/- per month (approx.) at Kolkata.

2. Publication Officer – Level – 11 (Rs.67,000 – 2,08,700/-) & other allowances as per 7th CPC, adopted byIndian Museum, Kolkata. Total emoluments (with 42 % D.A.) at starting is Rs. 1,24,637/- per month (approx.) at Kolkata.

3. Deputy Curator (Conservation) – Level – 10 (Rs.56,100 – 1,77,500/-) & other allowances as per 7th CPC, adopted by Indian Museum, Kolkata. Total emoluments (with 42 % D.A.) at starting is Rs. 1,05,033/- per month (approx.) at Kolkata.

4. Head Modeller – Level – 6 (Rs.35,400 – 1,12,400/-) & other allowances as per 7 th CPC, adopted by Indian Museum, Kolkata. Total emoluments (with 42 % D.A.) at starting is Rs.64,938/- (with 42 % D.A.) per month (approx.) at Kolkata

5. Library and Information Officer – Level – 6 (Rs.35,400 – 1,12,400/-) & other allowances as per 7 th CPC, adopted by Indian Museum, Kolkata. Total emoluments (with 42 % D.A.) at starting is Rs.64,938/- per month (approx.) at Kolkata
