The Tamil Nadu Sub-Inspector (SI) Exam is a highly competitive recruitment exam conducted by the Tamil Nadu Uniformed Services Recruitment Board (TNUSRB) to fill the vacant positions of Sub-Inspector of Police in the Tamil Nadu Police Department. The Tamil Nadu SI Exam 2023 is expected to be held in the second half of the year, and candidates who aspire to become Sub-Inspectors in the Tamil Nadu Police Department must start their preparation well in advance.

Selection Procedure:

The Tamil Nadu SI Exam 2023 will consist of the following selection stages:

  1. Written Examination: The first stage of the Tamil Nadu SI Exam is a written examination, which is conducted in offline mode. The written examination is divided into two papers: Paper I and Paper II. Paper I will cover General Knowledge and Psychology, while Paper II will cover General Science and Arithmetic. The duration of each paper is three hours, and each paper carries 80 marks.
  2. Physical Measurement Test (PMT): Candidates who clear the written examination will be eligible to appear for the Physical Measurement Test (PMT). The PMT is conducted to ensure that candidates meet the physical standards required for the job. The PMT will include measurements of height, chest, and weight.
  3. Endurance Test (ET): Candidates who clear the PMT will be eligible to appear for the Endurance Test (ET). The ET is designed to test a candidate’s physical endurance and fitness. It will include running, long jump, high jump, and shot put.
  4. Physical Efficiency Test (PET): Candidates who clear the ET will be eligible to appear for the Physical Efficiency Test (PET). The PET will test a candidate’s physical efficiency and ability to perform the tasks required for the job. It will include a 1500-meter run.
  5. Document Verification: Candidates who clear the PET will be called for document verification. At this stage, candidates will be required to produce all the necessary documents, such as educational certificates, age proof, caste certificate, etc.
  6. Final Merit List: The final merit list will be prepared based on the candidate’s performance in the written examination, PMT, ET, PET, and document verification.

Criteria:

To be eligible to apply for the Tamil Nadu SI Exam 2023, a candidate must meet the following criteria:

  1. Age: The candidate must be between 20 and 28 years of age as of 1st July 2023. However, age relaxation is provided to candidates belonging to certain categories, such as SC/ST/OBC.
  2. Educational Qualification: The candidate must have a Bachelor’s degree from a recognized university or institution.
  3. Physical Standards: The candidate must meet the following physical standards:
  • Height: For male candidates, the minimum height should be 170 cm, and for female candidates, the minimum height should be 159 cm.
  • Chest: For male candidates, the chest measurement should be 81 cm (unexpanded) and 86 cm (expanded).
  • Weight: The candidate’s weight should be proportionate to their height and age.
  1. Nationality: The candidate must be a citizen of India.
