The Combined Geologist Subordinate Services Examination is to be held on 20.11.2021. & 21.11.2021.

Tnpsc assistant geologist recruitment educational qualification 2021 :
The Tamilnadu Public Service Commission ( TNPSC) has set certain eligibility criteria to be met to apply for the Combined Geology Subordinate Service examination. The candidates are advised to carefully check the educational qualification as given below for each specialization and then make their applications.
1.Assistant Geologist in Geology and Mining Department :
• Must possess M. Sc degree in Geology of any University. Other things being equal preference will be given to candidates who possess practical experience in field work.
2. Assistant Geologist in Public Works Department:
• Master of Science degree in Geology or Master of Science degree in Applied Geology or Master of Science (Technology) in Hydrogeology of any University recognized by the University Grants Commission.
3.Assistant Geologist in Agricultural Engineering Department :
• A degree in Geology of any recognised University.
For Assistant Geologist in Geology and Mining Department
• Practical Experience in conducting Geological mapping, Mineral Reserve Estimation and preparation of Technical report for grant of Mining/Quarry lease.
• When all other qualifications and criteria being equal, preference may be given to those who have at least one year experience as Assistant Geologist/ Geologist / equivalent post in a) Offices of Director of Geology and Mining of other states. B) Government of India Exploration agency Viz., Geological survey of India, Mineral Exploration Corporation of India, KIOCL, ONGC.
Note :
• The educational qualifications prescribed for these posts should have been obtained by passing the required qualification in the following order of studies viz. 10th + HSC/Diploma or its equivalent +U.G. degree+ P.G. Degree. The results of examination should have been declared on or before the date of Notification. [Section 20 (4) (iv) of the T.N Government Servants (Conditions of Service) Act 2016]
Tnpsc assistant geologist recruitment examination fees 2021 :
The Registration fees and the examination fees to be paid by the candidate, who are appearing for Combined geology services examination is given below :-
• Registration Fees :
The one time registration fees for all candidates is Rs 150/- . It is valid for 5 Years. The candidates who have already registered in OTR , need not pay the registration fees.
• Examination fees :
The examination fees for this recruitment is Rs. 150/-. No offline mode of payment is acceptable.
Note :
• Linking Aadhaar number with One Time Registration (OTR) is mandatory for applicants.
Examination Fee Concession :
For candidates belonging to,
•Scheduled Castes/ Scheduled Caste (Arunthathiyars), Scheduled Tribes communities.
• Persons with Benchmark Disability.
• Destitute Widow.

Minimum Age Limit : 18 Years
Maximum Age Limit : No age limit
• Others‟ [i.e. candidates not belonging to SCs, SC(A)s, STs, MBC(V)s, MBCs and DNCs, MBCs BC(OBCM)s and BCMs] :
Minimum Age Limit : 18 Years
Maximum Age Limit : Should Not Have Completed 30 Years
For Assistant Geologist in Agricultural Engineering Department:
• For candidates belong to SCs, SC(A)s, STs, MBC(V)s, MBCs and DNCs, MBCs, BC(OBCM)s, BCMs and Destitute Widows of all categories :
Minimum Age Limit : 18 Years
Maximum Age Limit : No age limit
• Others‟ [i.e. candidates not belonging to SCs, SC(A)s, STs, MBC(V)s, MBCs and DNCs, MBCs BC(OBCM)s and BCMs] :
Minimum Age Limit : 18 Years
Maximum Age Limit : Should Not Have Completed 30 Years. Provided that in the case of candidates who possess the B.Sc (Hons) or M.Sc degree in Geology and who have experience for a period of not less than three years in Geophysical Survey or Electrical Logging, the upper age limit shall be increased by five years.
Note :
• No maximum age limit shall mean that the applicants should not have completed 60 years of age either on the date of notification or at the time of selection /appointment to the post.
Tnpsc assistant geologist recruitment salary 2021 :
The pay scale for Assistant Geologist being paid by the government is given below. The Salary for Assistant Geologist is Level 20.
• Assistant Geologist : The Salary is Rs.37,700-1,19,500/-(Level-20)
Tnpsc assistant geologist recruitment selection procedure 2021 :
The board follows a certain procedure to recruit the candidates for the position of assistant geologist in TNPSC. The two stages of recruitment in combined Geology Subordinate Service is as follows:-
• Written Examination – 500 Marks
• Oral Test – 70 Marks
• Total – 570 Marks
Tnpsc assistant geologist recruitment exam pattern 2021 :
The written examination will be conducted as two papers i.e. PAPER I and PAPER II. The total marks for the written examination is 500 Marks. The exam pattern for both the papers according to the post is given below:-
1. For Assistant Geologist in Geology and Mining Department & Assistant Geologist in PWD :
PAPER I :
Paper I is of P.G. degree standard. The subject is geology and the subject code is 240. The total marks for this paper is 300 marks. The duration is 2 hours. It comprises of 200 questions in total.
PAPER II :
Paper II is of degree standard. The subject is general studies. It has two section viz.,
• General Science – 75 Questions
• Aptitude – 25 Questions
• Total – 100 Questions
The duration is 2 hours for this examination. The total marks is 200 marks.
Total : 500 Marks
2.For Assistant Geologist in Agricultural Engineering Department:
PAPER I :
Paper I is of U.G. degree standard. The subject is geology and the subject code is 239. The total marks for this paper is 300 marks. The duration is 2 hours. It comprises of 200 questions in total.
PAPER II :
Paper II is of degree standard. The subject is general studies. It has two section viz.,
• General Science – 75 Questions
• Aptitude – 25 Questions
• Total – 100 Questions
The duration is 2 hours for this examination. The total marks is 200 marks.
Total : 500 Marks

• Questions for PAPER I will be in English only.
• Questions for PAPER II will be in both English & Tamil.
