Village Administrative Officer ( VAO )is recruited through TNPSC exams group 4. From 2017, the VAO exam is combined with and held with TNPSC group 4.

They are recruited to work into basic level administrative functionary. Main Duties and Responsibilities of a Village Administrative Officer are checking up with the Revenue Records , Preparation and maintenance of records related to village revenue and land records.
